Hot & Cold Treatments
What is it?
Physiotherapists are frequently asked which is better… heat or cold? In fact, both heat and cold treatments can be very useful in the treatment of injuries and other conditions, provided they are used correctly and at the right time.
Heat Treatments
- Hot packs or wheat bags
- Deepheat machines - shortwave or high intensity ultrasound
- 'Deep heat' sprays and gels
Cold Treatments
- Ice packs
- Topical treatments - freeze spray, 'Biofreeze' gel
Common treatment for:
- Improves circulation
- Ease muscle spasms
- Limit bruising & swelling
