Electrotherapy (Ultrasound)
What is it?
Electrotherapy is used by physiotherapists to provide pain relief, promote healing for problems of the soft tissue or stimulate the muscles fibres to activate. When tissue is exposed to ultrasound the sound waves cause micro-vibration within the tissue. This vibration causes heat energy that will increases blood flow to the area which increases oxygen supply for the healing of the damaged tissue. Ultrasound will also speed up the transport of chemicals in the blood towards the damaged tissue and help with healing.
